Why collect rainwater?

Why collect rainwater?

Fun fact: water collected for outdoor use only - a 150m2 roof, with a 200L rainwater tank will provide a massive 46% of the water demand, based on usage of 125L per day. (data based on water balance analysis using daily rainfall in Auckland over the last 30 years).

There are many reasons why you might consider collecting rainwater. Some of the more common reasons we hear from our customers include:

  • Increasing your household water resilience when Councils implement water restrictions
  • Helping the environment - while it might not feel like a lot, when you start to consider all the water that runs off your roof into the stormwater systems that goes unused, it is significant.
  • The plants love it. Nothing beats fresh rainwater that has not been treated for the health of our plants and vegetables.
